In this workshop, we’ll show you how to master a range of essential market and competitor analysis methods. You’ll gather hands-on experience through our extensive in-class application exercises and develop your own tool kit!
You can complete ICI-6 as part of the Fundamental Certificate in Competitive Intelligence (FCCI) program or book it as a standalone workshop. ICI-6 is a prerequisite for all workshops on the Certificate in Intelligence Analysis Certificate (CCIA) program.

- Advanced SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats): take appropriate actions based on the results.
- Porter’s five forces industrial structure and strategic group analysis: identify the forces within an industry that influence future developments – supplier and buyer bargaining power, competitor rivalry, threats of new entrants and substitutes in the market. Analysis of strategic groups and their respective strategic positions.
- Competitor analysis: the role of competitor profiling and how to create comprehensive competitor profiles using business canvases.
- Portfolio analysis for competitor landscaping, attractiveness analysis, threat analysis, gap analysis, and more applications.
- Four corners analysis for predicting competitor moves.
- Competitive benchmarking for processes, technologies, and companies.
- Battle Cards as a powerful, direct sales support.
- Distant profiling of top managers’ decision-making behavior.
- Inductive reasoning in intelligence analysis (evidence-based analysis, early warning analysis).
- Analysis of competing hypotheses for making judgments that entail a high risk of error in reasoning.
- Approaches for visualizing “big, complex data” to generate analytical insights.
- How (not) to lie with photographs – examples for detecting fake news.
- All analytical methodologies will be introduced through a real-life case study. Participants will complete application exercises and assess various analysis examples.
