In 1993 Rainer Michaeli founded DIE DENK­FABRIK GmbH, a consultancy that specializes in Competitive Intelligence services and strategic consulting. He is a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt for the courses "Competitive Intelligence" and "Dynamic Com­petitive Strategies". Rainer Michaeli was an elected member of the board of SCIP (Society of Com­petitive Intelligence Professionals) the global organization for mar­ket and competitive researchers, from 2002 to 2005. He published a textbook on Competitive Intelligence (Springer 2005), which became a Financial Times Deutschland Top3 bestselling book.
